The man is a rockstar. A solar superhero.
Websters Dictionary defines an entrepreneur as a person who organizes, manages, and assumes considerable risk of an enterprise.
Creator of Zip2, which he sold and pocketed over $22 million, and X.com, which later became PayPal and made him more than $165 million in stock options, Elon Musk is the ultimate entrepreneur.
These breakthroughs were only the beginning though. Musk went on to found SpaceX, which designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecrafts, and serves as the CEO and CTO. And In 2008, the company was awarded a $1.6 billion dollar NASA grant. In addition, Musk went on to co-found Tesla Motors, where he serves as the CEO. He also resides as the Chairman of SolarCity, the largest solar developer in the United States.
“I like to be involved in things that change the world.” – Elon Musk
Musk is a technology and entrepreneurial mastermind. And his newest project, Hyperloop, is nothing short of madness – the genius type though.
A high-speed transportation system that will allow passengers to get from Los Angeles to San Francisco in 30 minutes? This sounds way too much like a science fiction movie. However, if we have learned anything from Musk it is that he will find a way.
Not only is the Hyperloop project garnishing media buzz, but Tesla Motors profits are taking off faster than their Roadster. Over the past year, Tesla Motors stock has risen by more than 400% and reached a market cap of $20 billion.
It is almost as if everything he touches turns to gold.
Aside from his significant advances in cutting-edge technology, he is also a man of charity. Musk is the chairman of the Musk Foundation, which focuses its philanthropic efforts on science education and clean energy. And in 2010, through the Musk Foundation, he created a multi-million dollar program to donate solar-power systems to disaster relief efforts.
“You want to have a future where you’re expecting things to be better, not one where you’re expecting things to be worse.”
Entrepreneurs, inventors, philanthropists, and visionaries like Musk are the kinds of people who are driving innovation and who future generations will aspire to be. It is as almost as if Elon Musk is becoming the real life Tony Stark. Now we just have to wait until he announces himself as Iron Man.
