With over 1,000 attendees, 400 dinner guests, 200 field trip participants and 80 exhibitors, the 2009 New Jersey Clean Energy Conference was the most successful in the expo’s five year history.

U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu, co-winner of the 1997 Nobel Prize for Physics, joined New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine to open the event and offered the Conference’s keynote address.

TRC Companies, Inc. (NYSE:TRR), an engineering, consulting, and construction management firm that provides integrated services to the environmental, energy, infrastructure, and real estate markets organized the event. TRC is the market manager for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) andNew Jersey’s Clean Energy Program

The annual Conference, sponsored by the NJBPU and New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program, brought together policy leaders, business owners, facility managers, and contractors in the renewable energy and energy efficiency trade. Attendees participated in sessions focused on technological innovations, financing opportunities, new and emerging government policy, the changing economics of renewable energy and energy efficiency, utility and government program support and emerging trends in the industry.

As the commercial and industrial market manager for New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program, TRC develops strategies and services to help building owners and managers select the best approaches to make their facilities more energy efficient. TRC conducts group and individual outreach activities; creates targeted technical materials and training; benchmarks facility energy usage; develops informational resources and tools; and assists with the selection of program applicants.

According to Chris Vincze, CEO of TRC, the company takes a lot of pride in organizing the Conference.

“TRC is proud to have been the lead organizer of the 2009 New Jersey Clean Energy Conference,” said Vincze. “The conference theme ‘Clean Energy Now’ reminded us all that dramatic energy savings are achievable with today's technology and current best practices. As a company, TRC remains committed to the development of innovative energy efficiency programs and services that deliver results not only to New Jersey, but to all states across the country.”

The Conference, Vincze noted, has had steady increases in interest and attendance during its history. This year, the Conference was held at the largest venue in its history and was extended to two days to accommodate the growing attendance and interest in its agenda.

Attendees were offered tours of the Jersey-Atlantic wind farm located at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority Wastewater Treatment Facility and one of the world’s largest closed-loop geothermal heating systems, as well as the solar technology and new aquifer thermal energy storage system at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
