The future will need buildings that are not only energy-efficient, but in one way or the other generate at least a part of their energy requirements in the form of renewable energy. BIOS Arch has unveiled the designs of a futuristic skyscraper that not only saves energy, but also generates renewable energy using a PV-clad exterior.

The Re-Configure Sustainable Skyscraper carries a double-skinned façade, in which the film is made up of photovoltaic material printed onto glass. The dual-skin system also reduces energy consumption by letting in natural light, but reducing solar gain. 

The dappled light coming into the building due to the openness of the design creates an intricate yet beautiful effect. The openness can be controlled according to the type of use of the skyscraper, where a denser canopy to reduce light suits a gallery, while a more open canopy that lets in natural light can be used for housing purposes.

The overall design of the skyscraper is to maximize sun exposure, which can be used by the solar collectors to generate renewable energy for the building. The total footprint of the tower is turned to a southern exposure and then pinched to flatten and slope the southern face.
