After successfully acquiring more than a 50% stake in Sanyo, Panasonic is planning to commercialize a lithium-ion storage cell for home use. The company has already test-manufactured a storage battery for home use, which can store enough electricity for about one week of use. This new storage cell will be able to store excess renewable energy and use it to power the house with clean electricity during days when energy is not being generated. The company plans to market this new storage cell by 2011.
