It is predicted that by the year 2020 the city of Gothenburg will grow with 8000 new inhabitants each year. Kjellgren Kaminsky Architecture has started a project to design a master plan for a self-sufficient city for Gothenburg that will be powered entirely by renewable energy.
Dubbed the Super Sustainable City, the proposed architecture will be able to house one third of the estimated city growth until 2020, which will help form a strong connected between the riversides. The roofs and terraces can be used for leisure, farming and to generate renewable energy using photovoltaic panels and wind turbines. The roofs and terraces will be aligned toward the south to ensure that the solar panels and the plants get maximum sun exposure.
