Sanyo has announced that the company will showcase its Solar Electric Vehicle at the upcoming Eco Products 2009 International Exhibition at Tokyo Big Sight, to be held this week.

The solar electric truck features Sanyo’s own solar panels and Li-ion batteries that enable the truck to travel 130km on a single charge.

The onboard batteries are recharged in 16 hours of sun exposure or in just 8 hours using an AC wall outlet. The truck features nine 210W solar panels that have a capacity of 1.89KW and an estimated total energy supply of around 2000KWh. Solar energy is stored in 3510 cylindrical Li-ion batteries.
